journey are a property company focused on providing collaboration spaces for science and research businesses across the UK.

Their portfolio of spaces include lab, incubator, R&D, workspace, event space and supporting amenities including residences, all connected by a digital community.

A hive of ideas

 

Our brand solution focussed on the idea of a hive of minds working towards the shared goal of generating ideas – and the infinite possibilities that can happen by facilitating those connections.

The identity became what at first appears to be a simple hexagon device – a visual representation of one part of an interconnected web of minds. But on closer inspection this hexagon device actually lives in 3D space, a rotating cube that symbolises the physical spaces that the idea of journey will inhabit.

Defining an abstract concept

 

Our starting point was figuring out a way to define the idea of journey – what they do, how they will operate and how to share this idea to the world. A brand-new idea and a business that was yet to be in existence. Our solution was a brand film that could tell the ambitious story of the journey idea while distilling its purpose into a cohesive narrative.

As part of this we defined six core brand pillars, and created animated idents to represent each value.

The tools to tell the world

 

As a start-up business, journey required a suite of communications collateral to tell their story to the world. Alongside the brand identity and story we designed a comprehensive brand manual, business cards, presentation manual and website.
