A harmony of elements

The Founder’s Galleries at the Fitzwilliam are an ambitious thematic redisplay of five permanent galleries in the Museum.

We worked with the Museum to share the stories within their exciting new redisplay – through interpretation and 3D design – telling the story of surprising and imaginative connections between historic, modern and contemporary paintings, in a bold and inclusive way.

Our design is routed in giving everybody a way into these incredible stories, guided by themes of identity, nature, interiors and more.

Partnership of composition

We created a consistent datum height throughout the galleries that creates a greater visual cohesion between objects and interpretation. Creating an effortless experience where the visitor can take in each element without distracting from the other.

British craft and tactility

The new interpretation design combines beautiful paper stocks, that have a tactile nature and heritage as a classic British paper mill.

Based in the home of Cambridge University Press – the oldest university press in the world – there is a rich history of paper and classic typography coming together.
